Earlham 59, Ohio Wesleyan 52

Brandon Miller had 2 lay-ins and Tyler Stewart hit a 3-pointer to fuel a 7-0 run that helped Earlham defeat Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday at Richmond, Ind.

The Bishops had closed to within 27-25 on a basket by sophomore wing Ted Uritus (Columbus/Watterson) with 16:37 left in regulation time. Earlham got a free throw from Miller and a 3-pointer by Stewart to increase the lead to 31-25, but freshman post Dustin Rudegeair (Yellow Springs) scored to make it 31-27 with 14:52 to go.

Miller hit a lay-in on Earlham's next possession, and then neither team scored for more than 4 minutes. Miller's lay-in with 10:08 to play ended the drought, and Stewart followed with a 3-pointer to make the score 38-27 with 9:26 remaining.

Ohio Wesleyan narrowed the gap to 7 points on Uritus' 3-pointer with 3:09 to go, making the score 48-41, but the Bishops would come no closer.

Sophomore post Ben Chojnacki (Medina) shared the team lead with 13 points and grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds, while junior wing Andy Warnock (Delaware/Hayes) also shared the team lead with 13 points. Uritus finished with 12 points and junior guard Ross Rybarczyk (Oberlin/Elyria Catholic) had a team-high 5 assists.

Miller led the Quakers with 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Jermaine Crumby and Stewart added 13 points apiece.
