7th of 9 at NCAC Relays

Senior Stephan Schaner (Sandusky) turned in Ohio Wesleyan's top individual effort to lead the Bishops at the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays meet hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday in Gambier.

The annual lidlifter of the swimming season, the meet consists of relay events and is scored similarly to the conference championship meet. Denison won the meet with 166 points to 156 for runner-up Kenyon. Allegheny was third with 128 points and Wabash placed fourth with 112 points. Hiram (84), Wittenberg (76), Ohio Wesleyan (42), Oberlin (40) and Wooster (26) completed the team scores. Complete results

Schaner finished third in the 1-meter diving with a score of 246.80.

Senior Matt Woyma (Cleveland/St. Ignatius), senior Joe Woyma (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) and freshman Chris Rasch (Fairfield) turned in the Bishops' highest finish by a relay team, combining to finish 12th in the 1500 freestyle relay.

Joe Woyma, junior Forrest Filler (Princeton, N.J.), junior Julian Erickson (Yellow Springs) and Rasch combined to place 14th in the 200 breaststroke relay. Senior Shannon Beis (Columbus/Upper Arlington), Erickson, Joe Woyma and Rasch teamed to finish 15th in the 200 backstroke relay. The 200 butterfly relay team of Beis, Rasch, Matt Woyma and Joe Woyma finished 16th and the 500 freestyle relay team of Filler, Joe Woyma, Matt Woyma and Rasch placed 17th. Beis, Matt Woyma, Joe Woyma and Rasch also combined to finish 18th in the 400 IM relay.
