Sophomore
Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) led the Bishops at the Allegheny Classic
meet on Saturday at Meadville, Pa.
Carnegie-Mellon won the meet with 57 points to 68 for host Allegheny.
Elizabethtown placed third with 85 points, followed by Dickinson (113)
and Ohio Wesleyan (191). Scranton was sixth with 216 points, followed
by Kenyon (220), Denison (224), Penn State-Behrend (231), Frostburg State
(239), Susquehanna (259), Oberlin (304), Franklin & Marshall (345),
Moravian (390), Washington & Jefferson (463), Marywood and Westminster
(488), Waynesburg (560) and Thiel (599). Goucher, McDaniel, Myers and
Hiram did not post team scores.
Kempton finished 10th among individuals, covering the 8000-meter course
in 26:55. Sophomore Kevin Goehring (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) finished
33rd in 27:48, sophomore Seth Moore (Xenia/Yellow Springs) was 52nd in
28:16, freshman Doug Herman (Bryan) followed in 53rd place in 28:17 and
freshman Peter MacLeod (Hudson) completed the Bishop scoring with a 54th-place
finish in 28:19.
Sophomore Doug Sampson (Ridgewood, N.J.) was 70th in 28:36 and sophomore
Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.) finished 75th in 28:40.
