Kenyon 62, Ohio Wesleyan 39

Alisha Moreno hit a 3-pointer and Katy Zeanah had a pair of lay-ins to spark a 9-0 run that sent Kenyon on its way to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Bishops on Friday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Senior post Erica Brizendine (Grove City) drilled a pair of free throws and a jumper to bring the Bishops within 12-11 with 11:09 left in the first half, but Kenyon answered with a lay-in by Hilary Gowins before Moreno's 3-pointer and Zeanah's 2 buckets gave the Ladies a 21-11 lead.

Brizendine hit 2 more free throws to slice the deficit to 8 points, but Kenyon answered with a 10-0 run that included a 3-pointer by Dana Halicki and a 3-point play by Page Berry.

Brizendine's free throw with :01 left in the first half brought the Bishops within 31-14 at the intermission, ending a first half that saw Ohio Wesleyan shoot 17 percent (4 of 23) from the field. Brizendine had 13 of the Bishops' 14 points during the period.

The Bishops closed to within 15 points twice, first on a Brizendine bucket and then on a basket by sophomore guard Rachel Messaros (Granville/Columbus Bishop Hartley), but that was as close as Ohio Wesleyan would get.

Brizendine led Ohio Wesleyan with 17 points. Senior wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) had a team-high 7 rebounds and senior guard Celina Dopoulos (Strongsville) led the Bishops with 2 assists.

Moreno led Kenyon with 14 points and Zeanah added 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Lindsay Madaras and Gowins shared the Kenyon lead with 3 assists apiece.
