[ Erica Brizendine ]Senior post Erica Brizendine (Grove City) had 2 baskets and freshman post Kelli Lester (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) added a 3-point play to highlight a 12-0 run that broke open Ohio Wesleyan's North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Ohio Wesleyan opened up an early double-digit lead, going ahead by a score of 24-11 on a lay-in by sophomore guard Rachel Messaros (Granville/Columbus Bishop Hartley) with 11:18 left in the first half.

Oberlin mounted a comeback and eventually sliced the deficit to a single point. Cristina Briboneria hit the trifecta for the Yeowomen, drilling 3 baskets from beyond the arc, and Nicole Burford added a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer of her own to bring Oberlin within 28-27 with 7:29 left in the first half.

The Bishops answered with a run of their own, getting a pair of lay-ins by Brizendine and a pair by senior wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) along with a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Emily Lloyd (Canton/Massillon Jackson) to increase the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 43-32, and the Bishops would take a 45-34 lead into the locker room.

The Yeowomen came back early in the second half, closing to within 52-46 on Jessica Oram's jumper with 15:25 to go.

Ohio Wesleyan then scored the next 12 points to put the game away. Lester's 3-point play started the run, then Heil added a pair of free throws and Brizendine hit a lay-in. Lloyd followed with a 3-pointer and Brizendine added another lay-in that left the Bishops with a 64-46 lead with 11:48 to play, and Oberlin did not come closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
