Ohio Wesleyan 75, Anderson 57

Senior wing Kelly Heil (Sylvania/Southview) scored a season-high 33 points and became Ohio Wesleyan's all-time scoring leader in pacing the Bishops past Anderson in non-conference play on Friday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Heil hit her first 9 shots from the field to help the Bishops race to a 30-16 lead with 6:32 left in the first half. She finished with 33 points on 14-of-17 shooting, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range. The 33 points raised her career total to 1823, surpassing the Ohio Wesleyan career mark of 1802 set by Krista Jacobs from 1988-92.

Heil sank a 3-pointer and a lay-in and senior post Erica Brizendine (Grove City) added 2 lay-ins to stake the Bishops to a 9-0 lead. Ohio Wesleyan stretched its lead to 23-4 as Heil hit another 3-pointer and 4 straight lay-ins.

The Ravens rallied behind the scoring of Emily Bailey, Heather Terflinger and Lauren Vail and closed to within 30-20 on Amanda Miller's free throw with 2:46 left in the first half, but that was as close as Anderson would come.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 40-26 lead into the locker room and led by as many as 24 points during the second half.

Heil's 33 points led all players, while Brizendine finished with 10 points. Sophomore post Tifini Ray (Hilliard/Davidson) led the Bishops with 8 rebounds. Brizendine and Ray shared the team lead with 3 assists apiece.

Terflinger led the Ravens with 16 points and 4 assists and shared the team lead with 7 rebounds. Bailey finished with 14 points and Amy Pence also shared the team lead with 7 rebounds.
