Wooster 20, Ohio Wesleyan 4

Wooster slugged 6 home runs as the Fighting Scots defeated Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Saturday at Wooster.

The Fighting Scots took a 2-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Brandon Boesiger and an RBI fielder's choice by John Quimby, then added to the lead as Mike Barone led off the third with a home run and added 5 more runs in the inning.

Wooster added leadoff homers by Oliver Enos in the fourth and Shaun Swearingen in the fifth. Swearingen added a 3-run shot in the sixth, then Kurt Kapferer and Dan Skulina hit solo homers in the eighth.

Ohio Wesleyan got on the scoreboard in the seventh when junior second baseman Kyle Sherman (Plain City/Dublin Scioto) doubled with one out, sophomore first baseman A.J. Dote (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) followed with a single to score Sherman, and and senior third baseman Sammy Hall (North Riverside, Ill./Nazareth Academy) drove a ball out of the park.

The Bishops added a run in the eighth when freshman catcher Josh Dougherty (Hilliard/Davidson) walked, senior shortstop Brandon Williams (Dublin/Coffman) was hit by a pitch, the runners moved up on a wild pitch and Dougherty scored on an infield out by sophomore outfielder Brent Wilkins (Fairview Park/Fairview).

Dote went 2-for-3 to highlight the Bishop offense.

Freshman righthander Anthony Lewis (Grove City) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.
