Wooster
came up with a pair of goals during the final 7 minutes of regulation
time to escape with a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Ohio Wesleyan
on Saturday at the Henry Street Field.
The Fighting Scots broke a scoreless tie with 6:33 left in regulation
time when Anlyn Addis sent a pass from the right side across to Katelin
Bugler near the left post, and Bugler nudged the ball into the back of
the cage.
Wooster added an insurance goal with 4:47 left when Bugler's free hit
from the right wing skipped into the cage.
Ohio Wesleyan had just missed a chance to take the lead midway through
the second half. Sophomore defender Diana Boryczewski (Kensington, Conn./Kingswood
Oxford) sent the ball from the left side across the goal mouth to sophomore
midfielder Maggie Donovan (Westport, Conn./Staples), but Donovan's tip-in
attempt hit the right post. Senior attacker Taneen Legree (Christiana,
Pa./Octorara) was in position for the rebound but could not get off a
shot.
Sophomore Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) stopped 8
shots in the Ohio Wesleyan cage, while Wooster's Anne Leigh had 4 saves.
Wooster outshot Ohio
Wesleyan,
21-14.
