Katy Barrett scored the game-winning goal midway through the first half and Wittenberg withstood an Ohio Wesleyan threat in the second half as the Tigers nipped the Bishops in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday in Springfield.

Wittenberg took the lead with 21:39 left in the first half when Barrett scored off a feed from Alison Voigt.

Sophomore Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) and the Bishop defense kept Ohio Wesleyan in the game, with Jones stopping 10 Wittenberg shots during the first half alone.

The Bishops had the edge in play during the second half, outshooting Wittenberg, 5-4, and holding an 8-1 edge in penalty corners, but were unable to manufacture the tying goal.

Jones finished with 11 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal, while Wittenberg's Nicole Irvin had 6 saves in the Tiger cage, with 5 coming during the second half. Wittenberg outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 19-7.
