Transylvania 3, Ohio Wesleyan 2

Brittany Amos finished off her first hat trick of the season to give Transylvania a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Friday at the Henry Street Field.

Amos broke a scoreless tie midway through the first half. Ohio Wesleyan keeper Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) had stopped a Transylvania shot, but in the ensuing melee around the cage, Amos was able to nudge the ball over the line and give the Pioneers the lead.

Ohio Wesleyan evened the game with about 10 minutes left in the first half when freshman midfielder Caitlin Duggan (New Milford, Conn.) scored an unassisted goal.

Amos gave the Pioneers the lead with an unassisted goal in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Bishops came back to tie the game once more.

Sophomore defender Diana Boryczewski (Kensington, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) did the honors, scoring an unassisted goal to even the game at 2-2.

Amos finished off the hat trick with 5:00 left in regulation time, scoring an unassisted goal to put Transylvania ahead to stay.

Jones finished with 3 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal, while Transylvania's Taylor McGinnis had 2 saves in the Pioneer cage. Ohio Wesleyan outshot Transylvania, 13-7.
