Abigail Brox' goal with 10:17 left in regulation time lifted Oberlin over Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Tuesday at the Henry Street Field.

The Bishops battled the Yeowomen, who entered the game in first place in the NCAC standings, through a well-played defensive first half.

Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) foiled Oberlin's best chance to score, saving first a shot by Rosemary Mudry, then another shot by Brox on the rebound before Ashley Allen's follow shot was blocked by the Bishop defense.

Ohio Wesleyan, meanwhile, got a shot by junior attacker Abbey Kelley (West Bloomfield, Mich./Mercy) that was blocked by the Oberlin defense and another by freshman midfielder Emily Molchan (East Northport, N.Y.) that was saved by Yeowomen keeper Lauren Malinowski.

Oberlin took the lead when Lela Hull won the ball on the right side, moved toward the goal line and then crossed the ball across toward the left post, where Brox was waiting to finish off the play.

Jones finished with 9 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan cage, while freshman defender Helen Herr (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Christian) was credited with a defensive save. Malinowski had 5 saves for Oberlin. Oberlin outshot the Bishops, 27-8.
