Wittenberg 3, Ohio Wesleyan 2

Senior attacker Taneen Legree (Christiana, Pa./Octorara) and sophomore attacker Jeannette Narwicz (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame (N.J.)) scored to give Ohio Wesleyan a 2-0 halftime lead, but Wittenberg rallied to tie the game and scored in overtime to escape with a North Coast Athletic Conference win on Saturday at the Henry Street Field.

Legree deflected a shot by freshman defender Tara Porter (North Quincy, Mass./Berkshire School) into the Wittenberg cage during the ninth minute, then Narwicz made it a 2-0 Bishop lead with an unassisted goal with 10:35 left in the first half.

Wittenberg closed to within 2-1 when Mackenzie Huber sent the ball into the circle from the right wing and Julia Wickham connected on a shot just 1:19 into the second half.

The Tigers tied the game when Alison Voigt fed Holly McHugh for a score with 7:23 left in regulation time.

Neither team was able to break the deadlock during regulation time, so it went to a 15-minute overtime period to determine the verdict. Despite the Bishops owning a 7-2 advantage in shots during the extra session, it was Wittenberg that got the golden goal when McHugh scored off a pass from Rachel Dunn with 5:56 left in the first overtime.

Sophomore Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) stopped 6 shots in the Ohio Wesleyan goal. Nicole Irvin was credited with 5 saves in the Tiger cage.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wittenberg, 16-13.
