Senior Justin Schroeder (Shelby) turned in back-to-back 73s to lead the Bishops to the team championship of Strimer Memorial Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday and Sunday at Dornoch Golf Club and Oakhaven Golf Club.

First Round Results

Ohio Wesleyan won the tournament with a 588, finishing a single shot ahead of Otterbein's 589. Franklin finished in third place with a 601, followed by DePauw (605), Olivet (608), Transylvania (612), Wooster (624), Baldwin-Wallace (628) and Muskingum (634). Mount Union rounded out the top 10 with a 636, followed by and Anderson and Wabash (639), Wittenberg (640), Denison (659), Hiram (691), Kenyon (712) and Oberlin (719).

Schroeder finished in a fourth-place tie among individuals with a 146. Freshman Kyle Martin (Dublin/Wellington) and senior Doug McCullough (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./St. Edward) tied for sixth place at 147, freshman Jeff Nieman (Loveland/Cincinnati Moeller) tied for 15th place with a 151 and sophomore Rory Hotaling (Yellow Springs) tied for 22nd place with a 153.

Franklin's Tim Fish won medalist honors with a 1-over-par 143.

Sunday's second round was played at Oakhaven Golf Club under partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-60s, while Saturday's first round was played at Dornoch Golf Club under sunny skies with temperatures in the low 70s.

The Strimer Memorial Invitational honors the memory of coach Bob Strimer, who was involved in Ohio Wesleyan athletics for over half a century. During his tenure at Ohio Wesleyan, he served as athletics director for 22 years. He also served as head basketball coach, head golf coach, head baseball coach and was an assistant coach in football and track. After his retirement, Strimer remained active in athletics, alumni and development affairs for over 2 decades.
