T6th of 23 at NCAA Division III Championships

Freshman Kyle Martin (Dublin/Wellington) led the Bishops during the fourth and final round of the NCAA Division III championship tournament on Thursday in Lincoln, Neb.

Host Nebraska Wesleyan won the team championship, turning in the day's lowest score with a 303 during Thursday's fourth round. The Prairie Wolves finished with an 1193, a total of 10 shots ahead of runner-up Redlands. Methodist was third with a 1210, followed by Oglethorpe (1211), Guilford (1215), Ohio Wesleyan and Otterbein (1224), Rhodes (1228) and Emory (1238). Allegheny and Skidmore tied for 10th place at 1249, followed by Texas Lutheran (1244), La Verne (1249), Gustavus Adolphus (1254), Huntingdon (1255), Salem State (1257), Hope (1259), St. John's (1260) and Washington & Jefferson (1271). Claremont McKenna rounded out the top 20 with a 1276, followed by New York University (1279), California Lutheran (1290) and St. John Fisher (1303).

Martin shot a 2-over-par 73 on Thursday to finish with a 302 and tie for 13th place among individuals. Freshman Jeff Nieman (Loveland/Cincinnati Moeller) tied for 22nd place with a 304, senior Justin Schroeder (Shelby) tied for 27th place at 305, senior Doug McCullough (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./St. Edward) tied for 87th place at 322 and sophomore Rory Hotaling (Yellow Springs) tied for 89th place with a 323.
