Senior Justin Schroeder (Shelby) led Ohio Wesleyan at the Gordin Collegiate Classic on Sunday and Monday at Deer Track Golf Resort in Surfside Beach, S.C.

First-Round Results

Guilford won the tournament for the second straight year, holding off a second-round charge by Huntingdon. Guilford led by 7 shots after the first round, but Huntingdon fired a second-round 289 to close to within one stroke, with Guilford holding on to win by a margin of 586-587. Emory finished in third place with a 601, followed by Oglethorpe (602), St. John's (608), Otterbein and Methodist (610), Wisconsin-Eau Claire (612) and Ohio Wesleyan (620). Greensboro rounded out the top 10 with a 623, followed by Nebraska Wesleyan (630) and Redlands (653).

Jacob Collinsworth of Huntingdon won medalist honors, firing a second-round 72 to finish with a 143. Mike Lebow of Emory and Joe Green of Oglethorpe finished in a second-place tie at 144, Guilford's Colin Clark was fourth with a 145 and Huntingdon's Keith Jungen and Methodist's Nick Bova tied for fifth at 146.

For Ohio Wesleyan, Schroeder finished in a tie for 11th place among individuals at 150. Senior Doug McCullough (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./St. Edward) tied for 18th place with a 152, sophomore Rory Hotaling (Yellow Springs) finished in a tie for 37th place with a 156 and freshman Kyle Martin (Dublin/Wellington) and freshman Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) were tied for 55th place at 166.

The Gordin Collegiate Classic, held annually during the fall, features many of the top finishers of the previous spring's NCAA Division III championship tournament. The tournament is named in honor of longtime Ohio Wesleyan golf coach and athletic director Dick Gordin.
