Junior post Ben Chojnacki (Medina) hit a pair of 3-pointers as the Bishops opened the second half with a 12-1 run and senior guard Ross Rybarczyk (Oberlin/Elyria Catholic) buried a 3-pointer to kick off a 12-0 run that broke the game open as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Kenyon in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday in Gambier.

Ohio Wesleyan jumped to an early 5-0 lead on a jumper by Chojnacki and a 3-pointer by senior wing Bryan King (Sidney). The Bishops stretched the lead to 18-9 on a 3-pointer by freshman guard Tim Patten (Mechanicsburg).

Kenyon rallied to tie the game at 31-31, with Chris Yorlano and Korey Haddox contributing 3-pointers and Matt Formato tying the game with a 3-point play with 4:09 left in the first half. Formato followed with a pair of free throws and Allen Bediako hit a jumper to give the Lords a 35-31 lead with 3:14 left in the first half.

King answered with a 3-pointer for the Bishops, and after Josh Klinger scored for Kenyon, Chojnacki hit a jumper and senior wing Andy Warnock (Delaware/Hayes) followed with a 3-pointer for a 39-37 Bishop lead. Formato tied the game with a jumper with :56 left in the half, but Warnock answered with a basket with :43 to play that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay.

Chojnacki opened the second half with a 3-pointer, and after a free throw by Kenyon's Tyler Rehm, King knocked down a 3-pointer, Rybarczyk converted a 3-point play and Chojnacki sank a 3-pointer for a 53-41 Bishop lead with 16:30 to play.

The Lords whittled the deficit to within 68-63 on Haddox's jumper with 5:47 left, and still trailed by a 73-68 margin with 4:37 left when the Bishops went on a 12-0 tear.

Rybarczyk started off the run with a 3-pointer, Chojnacki added a couple of jumpers, and King buried a pair of free throws and finished off the spurt with a 3-pointer that gave Ohio Wesleyan an 85-68 lead with 2:02 remaining.

Chojnacki led the Bishops with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. King finished with 14 points and Rybarczyk added 13 points.

Yelvington led Kenyon with 19 points and 8 rebounds, Formato had 17 points and a team-high 3 assists, and Haddox scored 11 points
