Salisbury 21, Ohio Wesleyan 6

Sophomore midfielder Harrison Iuliano (Mendham, N.J./Blair Academy) scored to give the Bishops an early 1-0 lead, but defending NCAA Division III champion Salisbury scored 8 straight goals to close out the first quarter and went on to defeat the Bishops in non-conference play on Saturday at Salisbury, Md.

Iuliano scored an unassisted goal 1:10 into the game to put the Bishops on the scoreboard.

Ryan Rohde then scored for the Sea Gulls to tie the game at 1-1 with 12:26 left in the first quarter, then added a man-up goal a minute later to put Salisbury ahead to stay. Rohde added another goal and Mike Hurley scored twice during the Sea Gulls' 8-0 run to finish the period.

Senior midfielder Kevin Lakani (Riverwoods, IL/Loyola Academy) and sophomore midfielder Steve Fowler (Wilton, Conn.) added second-quarter goals for the Bishops, and Ohio Wesleyan opened the second half with scores by sophomore attacker Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) and freshman attacker Eric Turner (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) to close within 13-5.

The Bishop defense, meanwhile, held Salisbury scoreless for more than 14 minutes of the third quarter, but Rohde and Matt Dasinger recorded goals during the final 40 seconds of the quarter, and Hurley added a score in the first minute of the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Junior attacker John Kingston (Huntington, N.Y.) also scored for Ohio Wesleyan.

Rohde and Hurley shared the Sea Gull lead with 4 goals apiece.

Freshman Alex Crawford (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) had 3 saves during the first quarter, while sophomore Ryan Perone (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) had 6 saves during the second, third and fourth quarters and freshman Matt Cipolla (Harrison, N.Y.) was not tested during the final minute. Max Zarchin had 9 saves and Riley Clark had 2 saves for Salisbury.
