Ohio Wesleyan 10, Greensboro 9

Sophomore midfielder Chris Eccles (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) and sophomore midfielder Harrison Iuliano (Mendham, N.J./Blair Academy) scored 2 goals apiece as Ohio Wesleyan reeled off 7 straight goals on the way to a non-conference win over Greensboro on Saturday at Greensboro, N.C.

The Pride raced to a 4-0 lead on first-quarter goals by Matt Perry, Ian Montgomery, Chris Gramm and Jason Momenthy.

Eccles scored in the final seconds of the first period to put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard, then added another goal in the first minute of the second quarter to bring the Bishops within 4-2.

Perry and senior attacker Jarred Law (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) traded goals to make it a 5-3 game before Greensboro stretched its lead to 7-3 with scores by
Kevin Donnelly and Perry, the latter with 6:45 left in the first half.

Eccles answered with a goal just 22 seconds later, and sophomore attacker Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) scored with 1:43 left in the half to bring the Bishops within 7-5 at the intermission.

Iuliano scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter to tie the game, then Eccles scored to give the Bishops an 8-7 lead with 1:45 left in the period and senior midfielder Kevin Lakani (Riverwoods, IL/Loyola Academy) followed with a goal at the 1:06 mark to make it a 9-7 game.

Freshman attacker Karl Zimmerman (Utica, Mich./Brother Rice) added a goal in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter to increase the Bishop lead to 10-7 with 12:19 left in regulation time.

Perry responded with a goal less than a minute later to slice the deficit to 10-8, but the Pride would not score again until Perry's goal at the final horn.

Eccles led the Bishops with 4 goals. Iuliano added 2 goals, and Zimmerman and Law each contributed a goal and 2 assists.

Perry led the Pride with 5 goals, while Montgomery added a goal and 2 assists.

Freshman Alex Crawford (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) made 9 saves and sophomore Ryan Perone (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) had 6 saves in the Bishop goal.

Corey Reina had 18 saves for Greensboro.
