Ohio Wesleyan 25, Washington & Jefferson 7

Senior attacker Jarred Law (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) scored twice and sophomore midfielder Chris Eccles (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) had a goal and 2 assists as Ohio Wesleyan opened the game with a 6-1 run and went on to defeat Washington & Jefferson in non-conference action on Saturday at Selby Field.

Law scored on an Eccles feed to put Ohio Wesleyan on the board, then freshman attacker Eric Turner (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) and Eccles scored to make it a 3-0 game.

Russ Kalkstein put the Presidents on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal, but the Bishops scored the next 3 goals, with Law, freshman midfielder Phillip Johnson (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit) and junior attacker John Kingston (Huntington, N.Y.) finding the back of the net to stretch the Bishop lead to 6-1.

Ohio Wesleyan put the game out of reach with a 7-0 run during the second and third quarters, with Eccles and sophomore midfielder Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) each scoring twice while the Bishop defense held W&J scoreless for more than 20 minutes.

Law led the Bishops with 5 goals and 2 assists. He compiled 4 goals and an assist as the Ohio Wesleyan man-up unit scored 7 times in 10 opportunities. Eccles added 4 goals and 3 assists, Kingston finished with 3 goals and Turner and freshman attacker Karl Zimmerman (Utica, Mich./Brother Rice) each had 2 goals and an assist.

Sophomore Ryan Perone (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) had 8 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, freshman Alex Crawford (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) had 3 saves and freshman Matt Cipolla (Harrison, N.Y.) had 3 saves.

Spooky Reid had 12 saves and Brad Lowery had 2 saves for the Presidents.
