Ohio Wesleyan 17, Colorado College 6

Freshman attackers Karl Zimmerman (Utica, Mich./Brother Rice) and Eric Turner (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) scored 3 goals apiece and sophomore midfielder Chris Eccles (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) had a goal and 3 assists as Ohio Wesleyan opened the game with a 10-0 run and went on to defeat Colorado College in non-conference action on Sunday at Selby Field.

Eccles fed freshman midfielder Phillip Johnson (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit) for the game's first goal, then found Zimmerman twice as the Bishops took a 3-0 lead.

Zimmerman followed with another score before Turner connected on a man-up goal and senior attacker Jarred Law (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) added a goal for a 6-0 Ohio Wesleyan lead after the first quarter.

Turner added 3 more goals during the second quarter and Johnson scored off another Eccles feed with :04 left in the half as the Bishops stretched their lead to 12-2 at the intermission.

Colorado College rallied in the third quarter, getting a pair of goals from Jud Brown and scores from Shawn Maloney and Hunter Combs to close within 13-6, but Turner scored in the final minute of the period and the Bishops held the Tigers off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.

Turner led the Bishops with 6 goals, while Zimmerman scored 3 goals. Johnson scored twice and Eccles finished with a goal and 4 assists.

Sophomore Ryan Perone (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) had 6 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while freshman Alex Crawford (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) had 1 save.

Brown led Colorado College with 2 goals and Maloney finished with a goal and an assist.

Chris Shiprock had 14 saves for the Tigers. Ryan Maloney, who played briefly while Shiprock was serving two penalties, did not record a save.
