Stevens Tech 17, Ohio Wesleyan 6

May 6, 2006

John Dolny scored 3 goals and J.R. Oreskovich added 2 more during an 8-0 run that helped Stevens Tech break open a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday in Hoboken, N.J.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead on a goal by senior midfielder Chris Riehl (Columbus/Upper Arlington) midway through the first quarter.

The Ducks scored the next 5 goals, including a pair by Matt Keating and a man-up score by Mark Bielicki that gave Stevens Tech a 5-1 lead with :13 left in the first quarter.

Freshman midfielder Phillip Johnson (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit) seized the momentum back for Ohio Wesleyan with a goal with :06 left in the first quarter, then scored early in the second quarter to bring the Bishops within 5-3.

Stevens Tech answered with 3 straight goals, including a pair :37 apart by Bob Leming and Keating, to stretch the lead to 8-3.

Ohio Wesleyan came back with a man-up goal by freshman attacker Karl Zimmerman (Utica, Mich./Brother Rice), but this time there would be no Bishop rally, as Stevens got the goal back on Dolny's goal with 3:15 left in the first half.

The Ducks would score 7 times during the third quarter while holding Ohio Wesleyan off the scoreboard during the period. When Keating scored with 4:37 left in the quarter, Stevens held a 16-4 lead.

Senior attacker Jarred Law (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) and sophomore midfielder Chris Eccles (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) scored goals in the fourth quarter for Ohio Wesleyan.

Johnson led the Bishops with 2 goals, while Law finished with a goal and 2 assists.

Sophomore Owen McDonagh (Newton, Mass./Avon Old Farms (Conn.)) had 20 saves while making his first collegiate start in the Bishop goal. Sophomore Ryan Perone (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) was unable to play after contracting food poisoning on Friday, while freshman Alex Crawford (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) and freshman Matt Cipolla (Harrison, N.Y.) were unable to make the trip because of academic commitments.

Keating led the Ducks with 4 goals and an assist. Dolny finished with 3 goals and Matt Althauser contributed 2 goals and 2 assists.

Jack Dunderdale had 11 saves for Stevens Tech
