Junior Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) and senior Justin Blackburn (Wadsworth)
won events to
lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Wilmington Invitational on Saturday at Wilmington.
Wilmington won the meet with 181 1/2 points to 105 1/2 for Wittenberg.
Heidelberg was third with 85 points, followed by Huntington (70), Baldwin-Wallace
(66), Ohio Wesleyan (58 1/2), Earlham (48), Muskingum (43 1/2), Myers
(34), Central State (19) and Dayton (14).
Kempton won the 5000-meter run in a time of 15:34.63.
Blackburn won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of :15.83.
Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Joshua Steinke (Wapakoneta),
who was third in the discus and sixth in the shot put; freshman Bobby
Polley (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), who finished fourth in the javelin;
junior Jordon Sampson (Cuyahoga Falls), who placed fourth in the shot
put; sophomore Michael Tornifolio (Stow), who was sixth in the pole vault
and eighth in the long jump; junior Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.),
who was sixth in the 1500-meter run; freshman Preston Osborn (Edgerton),
who finished sixth in the 400-meter dash; junior Doug Sampson (Ridgewood,
N.J.), who placed seventh in the 1500-meter run; freshman Gary Brenneman
(Fredericktown), who was seventh in the 800-meter run; freshman Ryan Ellis
(Columbus/Dublin Scioto), who finished seventh in the 200-meter dash;
Dan Melcher (Conneaut), who was eighth in the 5000-meter run.
