Junior
Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) led the way as Ohio Wesleyan competed
at
the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday in Louisville,
Ky. Competing in a field that included several NCAA Division I institutions
and a similar number of top-25 NAIA teams, the Bishops finished 28th in
the overall standings.
Tennessee won the meet with 52 points to 73 for Louisville. Navy was third
with 93 points, followed by Georgia State (408), Aquinas (211), Tennessee-Chattanooga
(238), Xavier (304), Centre and Eastern Illinois (306). Belmont rounded
out the top 10 with 314 points, followed by Lindenwood (333), Morehead
State (432), Rend Lake (434), Cedarville (460), Indiana Wesleyan (462),
Dayton (463), William Woods (509), Shawnee State (513), St. Vincent (530)
and Cumberland finishing off the top 20 with 538 points. Roberts Wesleyan
was 21st with 557 points, followed by Southeast Missouri State (601),
Marian (622), Evansville (625), Sewanee (640), Taylor (662), Austin Peay
State (662), Ohio Wesleyan (704), Wright State (712), Berea (768), Point
Loma Nazarene (835), Campbellsville (976), Cornerstone (979), Baker (1117)
and Wheeling Jesuit (1143). Complete
Results
Kempton placed 94th among individuals, finishing the 8000-meter course
in 26:30.09.
Junior Seth Moore (Xenia/Yellow Springs) was 152nd in 27:13.18 and junior
Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.) finished 160th in 27:18.71. Junior Doug
Sampson (Ridgewood, N.J.) finished 188th in 27:37.45 and junior Kevin
Goehring (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) completed the Bishop scoring with
a 190th-place finish in 27:39.73. Freshman
David Stefanik (Wooster) was 199th in 27:45.44 and freshman Clay Davis
(Dublin/Coffman) came in 200th in a time of 27:48.31.
In
the "blue" race, senior Joshua Warner (Fremont/Ross) led the
Bishops as Ohio Wesleyan placed seventh of 16 teams.
Warner completed
the 8000-meter course in 27:42.78, finishing 38th. Freshman Brandon Hunter
(Twinsburg) placed
42nd in 29:05.19, freshman
Andrew Bloom (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne) was 47th
in 29:23.21, freshman Garret Andre-Johnson (Walnut Creek, Calif./Berkeley)
finished 53rd in 29:35.96 and freshman Scott Williams (Naperville, Ill./Benet
Academy) completed the Bishop scoring with a 62nd-place finish in 29:58.12.
Sophomore Phil Hardymon (Upper Arlington) was 65th in 29:59.30 and sophomore
Joe Berlyoung (Elyria/Avon) placed 88th in 31:16.54.
