5th of 10 at NCAC championship

Junior Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) won all-conference honors in leading Ohio Wesleyan at the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet, hosted by Denison University on Saturday in Granville.

Allegheny won the meet with 26 points to 70 for runner-up Denison. Wabash was third with 108 points, followed by Kenyon (112), Ohio Wesleyan (140), Oberlin (141), Earlham (149), Wooster (182), Wittenberg (255) and Hiram (330).

Kempton finished 17th among individuals to earn an honorable mention All-NCAC citation. Kempton completed the 8000-meter course in a time of 27:28.

Freshman David Stefanik (Wooster) finished 28th in 28:01, just ahead of sophomore Pete MacLeod (Hudson), who placed 29th in 28:02. Freshman Clay Davis (Dublin/Coffman) was 32nd in 28:09 and junior Doug Sampson (Ridgewood, N.J.) completed the Bishop scoring with a 34th-place finish in 28:16.

Junior Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.) finished 36th in a time of 28:19 and freshman Alex Havran (Woodinville, Wash./Overlake) was 43rd in 28:45.
