Ohio Wesleyan 11, Wisconsin-Stout 7

Sophomore outfielder Kiley King (Delaware/Olentangy) plated the go-ahead runs with a 2-run single to highlight a 6-run sixth inning that lifted Ohio Wesleyan over Wisconsin-Stout in non-conference action on Wednesday in Kissimmee, Fla.

The Blue Devils had taken a 5-1 lead after 2 1/2 innings, but Ohio Wesleyan rallied with a run in the third, 2 in the fourth and one in the fifth to tie the game at 5-5.

Wisconsin-Stout pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the sixth for a 7-5 lead to set the stage for the Bishop uprising.

Ohio Wesleyan loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth when senior third baseman Amy Mazur (Elyria) walked, senior first baseman Sarah Downs (Canton, Conn./Avon) reached on an error and sophomore catcher Miranda Simmons (Norwalk) singled. Junior second baseman Theresa Longenecker (Lynbrook, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) singled home Mazur to bring the Bishops within 7-6 and a walk to junior outfielder Mary Beth Scherer (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) forced in Downs with the tying run.

King then lined a single that scored Simmons and Longenecker, putting the Bishops ahead to stay. Scherer scored and King moved to second on a passed ball before junior outfielder Carli Wittman (Oak Harbor) drove in King with a single to cap the 6-run rally.

Senior shortstop Linsey Longstreth (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) was 2-for-2 with 2 walks, while Longenecker went 2-for-3 with a walk to higlight the Bishop offense.

Junior righthander Claire Martin (Jefferson) started for the Bishops, and junior righthander Kelly Zampino (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) came on in relief in the third inning to pick up the win.
