St. Norbert 64, Ohio Wesleyan 42

Victoria LeFevre and Aimee D'Amour scored 2 buckets apiece to fuel an early 10-0 run that started St. Norbert on its way to a win over Ohio Wesleyan in the consolation game of the Midway Classic on Sunday at the University of Chicago.

Ohio Wesleyan had taken a 6-3 lead on 3-pointers by sophomore guard Molly Baker (Avon Lake) and junior guard Emily Lloyd (Canton/Massillon Jackson) just under 5 minutes into the game.

St. Norbert answered with a lay-in by LeFevre with 14:16 left in the first half and took the lead on D'Amour's lay-in with 12:51 remaining. LeFevre, Bianca White and D'Amour followed with lay-ins that gave St. Norbert a 13-6 lead with 10:30 remaining in the period.

Lloyd ended the run with another 3-pointer, bringing the Bishops within 13-9, but St. Norbert scored the next 12 points, with White and Meggan Hau each contributing 2 baskets and 2 free throws, to stretch the lead to 25-9 with 5:41 to play in the half, and the Bishops did not come closer than 12 points during the remainder of the game.

Sophomore post Kelli Lester (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) led the Bishops with 7 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore guard Kathleen Cooper (Columbus/Upper Arlington) dished out a team-high 4 assists.

White scored a game-high 19 points to lead St. Norbert. Hau finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds and shared the team lead with 3 assists. Linsey Propson and Allison Schnese also shared the team lead with 3 assists apiece.

Cooper represented Ohio Wesleyan on the all-tournament team.
