Ohio Wesleyan 11, Redlands 8

Senior attacker Liz Stockdale (Beaver, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) scored to kick off a late 3-0 that gave Ohio Wesleyan breathing room in a non-conference win over Redlands on Wednesday in Redlands, Calif.

Ohio Wesleyan led, 8-7, when Stockdale scored with 9:49 left in regulation time.

Twenty seconds later, sophomore midfielder Kadi Kuhlenberg (Cincinnati/Anderson) converted a free position shot, then sophomore midfielder Lura Allen (Hingham, Mass.) scored on a free position shot with 5:52 to play to give the Bishops an 11-7 lead.

Redlands closed to within 11-8 with a score by Aislynn Neish with 3:21 remaining, but that was as close as the Bulldogs would come.

Ohio Wesleyan had erased an early 1-0 deficit with scores by junior defender Jana Kramer (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) and sophomore attacker Polly Burke (Milton, Mass.), but Redlands retook the lead with 3 straight scores, one by Lauren Matta and 2 by Christine Bellows.

Kuhlenberg and sophomore attacker Alexa Deaton (Eden, Md./Mercersburg Academy) scored in the closing minutes of the first half to even the game at 5-5 at halftime, and Ohio Wesleyan took a 6-5 lead on Stockdale's goal early in the second half.

Neish answered with a goal to tie the game at 6-6, but freshman attacker Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) then put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay with a goal at the 20:54 mark, and junior attacker Jamie Blake (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) followed with a score to give the Bishops an 8-6 lead with 15:54 to go.

Stockdale led the Bishops with 3 goals, while Kuhlenberg scored 2 goals and Mudge and Blake each contributed a goal and an assist.

Bellows led the Bulldogs with 4 goals and an assist, and Neish added 2 goals.

Sophomore Maggie Eichenlaub (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) stopped 7 shots in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.

Lindsay Feig was credited with 6 saves in the Bulldog goal.
