Ohio Wesleyan 15, Allegheny 9

Sophomore attacker Alexa Deaton (Eden, Md./Mercersburg Academy) had 2 goals and 2 assists during a 4-0 run that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, then scored to kick off a game-ending 4-0 run that sealed the win as the Bishops defeated Allegheny in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Sunday in Meadville, Pa.

With the score tied, 3-3, Deaton converted a free position shot to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay. She then assisted goals by sophomore midfielder Lura Allen (Hingham, Mass.) and freshman attacker Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) before converting another free position shot to give the Bishops a 7-3 lead with 17:45 left in the first half.

Allegheny closed to within 7-5 on scores by Ashley Hughes and Ashley Rogerson, and after Deaton and Rogerson traded goals during the closing minutes of the half, Ohio Wesleyan led by an 8-6 count at halftime.

Junior attacker Jamie Blake (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and senior attacker Liz Stockdale (Beaver, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) scored to open the second half, and Deaton and Rogerson traded goals again to leave the Bishops ahead, 11-7, less than 5 minutes into the second half.

The Gators rallied with scores by Hughes and Anna Gordon to pull within 11-9 with 20:28 left in regulation time.

Deaton answered with an unassisted goal just over a minute later, then Stockdale, Mudge and Blake added scores to account for the 15-9 final.

Deaton led the Bishops with 5 goals and 3 assists. Blake added 3 goals and an assist, Mudge finished with 2 goals and an assist and Allen and Stockdale scored 2 goals apiece.

Sophomore Maggie Eichenlaub (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) stopped 14 shots in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.

Rogerson led Allegheny with 3 goals and an assist, while Hughes scored 3 goals.

Leslie Stange was credited with 4 saves in the Gator goal.
