Senior
Nina DiTraglia (Portsmouth/Gilmour Academy), sophomore Ashley Shaffer
(Lancaster) and freshman Catie Coleman (Medina/Lodi Cloverleaf) won events
to lead Ohio
Wesleyan at the annual Marv Frye Invitational on Friday at Selby Field
and the George Gauthier Track.
Baldwin-Wallace won the meet with 164 points to 138 for Otterbein. Ohio
Wesleyan was third with 96 1/2 points, followed by Capital (77 1/2), Thiel
(58), Wilmington (52), Heidelberg (33), Kenyon (26 1/2) and Bluffton (22
1/2). Muskingum rounded out the top 10 with 13 points, followed by Denison
(9) and Marietta (8). There was a lightning delay of approximately one
hour, and the 1600-meter relay events were not contested because of darkness.

DiTraglia won the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:49.46 and added a seventh-place
finish in the 800-meter run.
Shaffer won the triple jump by leaping 36-1 1/2, breaking the school record
of 36- 1/2 set by Jackie Brown in 1986. She also finished second in the
long jump and added a fourth in the 400-meter dash.
Coleman won the 5000-meter run in 18:31.
Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Valerie Sloboda (Columbia,
Md./Atholton), who finished third in the 800-meter run;
junior Amanda Husted (Springfield/Greenon), who finished third in the
3000-meter steeplechase; junior Louise Stepp (Hamilton/Fairfield), who
placed third in the high jump; senior Liz Newell (Delaware/Hayes), who
was fourth in the shot put and fifth in the hammer; freshman Megan Downing
(Mentor/Gilmour Academy), who was fourth in the 800-meter run; senior
Meggie Feran (Kirtland), who placed fourth in the 1500-meter run; junior
Marie Rymut (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.), who finished
fifth in the 1500-meter run; sophomore Donna Langerfeld (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill),
who was fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase; sophomore Malley Adamsky
(McMurray, Pa./Peters Township), who was fifth in the javelin; freshman
Jessica Merrill (Columbia Station/Columbia), who placed eighth in the
triple jump and the 400-meter hurdles; and junior Ericka Newell (Delaware/Hayes),
who placed eighth in the long jump and tied for eighth in the high jump.
The Marv Frye Invitational is named in honor of Frye, who served as cross
country and track & field coach at Ohio Wesleyan from 1960-97 and
remains active in the Ohio collegiate track and field community.
