Ohio Dominican 14, Ohio Wesleyan 4

Senior second baseman Kyle Sherman (Plain City/Dublin Scioto) doubled in a run to give Ohio Wesleyan an early 1-0 lead, but Ohio Dominican scored 9 unanswered tallies and went on to take a non-conference win on Tuesday in Columbus.

Sherman's first-inning double scored junior outfielder Joey McDaniel (Dublin/Scioto), who had led off the game with a walk.

Ohio Dominican scored 3 times in the second on an RBI single by Thomas Sullivan and a 2-run single by Venson Doster. The Panthers added 3 runs in the third, with Josh Brown's RBI single the big hit, and tacked on 3 more in the fourth as K.C. Warden had a 2-run double.

Ohio Wesleyan rallied with 3 runs in the fifth, with sophomore shortstop Logan Hronis (Rocky River/St. Edward), sophomore first baseman Greg Vasami (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Rye Neck) and freshman catcher Steve Ruygrok (Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek) each plating a run, but Ohio Dominican came up with 5 runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by Brown's 3-run homer.

The game, played under NAIA rules, ended with the 10-run margin after the top of the seventh.

Hronis had 2 hits to highlight the Ohio Wesleyan offense.

Junior righthander Sean Speed (Cincinnati/St. Xavier) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.
