Carly Riggin scored the game-winning goal with 1:36 left in regulation time to lift Washington & Jefferson over Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Saturday at the Henry Street Field.

The game-winning score came after Washington & Jefferson had earned a penalty corner. Ohio Wesleyan broke up the play but did not clear the ball out of the circle, and Riggin sent the ball toward the cage. The ball deflected off a Bishop defender's stick and high into the cage, giving the Presidents the lead.

Washington & Jefferson had a couple of good scoring chances in the first half. The Presidents had a flurry of offensive activity with about 8 minutes left in the period, getting off 2 shots at Bishop keeper Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain), but Jones stopped both shots, and the Ohio Wesleyan defense broke up a pair of penalty corners.

Washington & Jefferson outshot the Bishops, 11-4. Jones finished with 3 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while President keeper Ashley Rund was not credited with a save.
