Ohio Wesleyan 2, Earlham 0

Junior midfielder Maggie Donovan (Westport, Conn./Staples) scored late in the first half to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay and the Bishops went on to defeat Earlham in their North Coast Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday at the Henry Street Field.

Donovan gave the Bishops a 1-0 lead by knocking a loose ball past Quaker keeper Katherine McDonough with 1:26 left in the first half.

Ohio Wesleyan got an insurance goal midway through the second half when freshman defender Alyssa Bronikowski (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./University Liggett) scored from close range. Sophomore defender Helen Herr (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Christian) was credited with an assist on the play.

Earlham outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 8-7. Junior Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) had 3 saves in the Bishop cage, while McDonough finished with 4 saves.
