Senior Doug McCullough (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./St. Edward) led Ohio Wesleyan to the team championship of the Strimer Memorial Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday and Sunday at Oakhaven Golf Club.

Ohio Wesleyan won the tournament with a total of 595, finishing 4 shots ahead of Otterbein's 599. Wittenberg was third at 614, followed by Tri-State (615), Olivet (618), Mount Union (621), Allegheny (622), Transylvania (625) and Wooster (629). Baldwin-Wallace and John Carroll tied for 10th place at 630, followed by Franklin (633), Denison (634), Wabash (641), Hiram (681), Kenyon (683) and Oberlin (730).

McCullough finished in a third-place tie among individuals with a 146. Sophomore Kyle Martin (Dublin/Wellington) tied for fifth place at 147, sophomore Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) tied for ninth place with a 149, freshman Jordan Benner (Beavercreek) finished in a tie for 16th place at 153 and freshman Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South)
tied for 45th place at 159.

Ohio Wesleyan golfers competing as individuals included junior Rory Hotaling (Yellow Springs), who finished second with a 144; sophomore Andy Schillig
(Pataskala/Licking Heights), who tied for third place at 146; freshman Peter Joyce (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), who placed 15th with a 152; and freshman Mike Sarap (Cambridge), who finished in a tie for 16th place at 153.

Sunday's second round was played under sunny skies with temperatures eventually reaching the mid-70s. Saturday's first round was played under sunny skies with temperatures in the 70s.

The Strimer Memorial Invitational honors the memory of coach Bob Strimer, who was involved in Ohio Wesleyan athletics for over half a century. During his tenure at Ohio Wesleyan, he served as athletics director for 22 years. He also served as head basketball coach, head golf coach, head baseball coach and was an assistant coach in football and track. After his retirement, Strimer remained active in athletics, alumni and development affairs for over 2 decades. The tournament is sponsored by Lamkin Grips.
