Junior
wing Brian Cafarella (Westerville/North) erupted for a career-high 20

over Allegheny on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.
Playing without senior wing Ben Chojnacki (Medina), the Bishops saw junior
post Jesse Jean (Alexandria, Va./Hyde (Conn.) School) and senior wing
Ted Uritus (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) pick up the scoring early, with
Jean hitting a pair of baskets and Uritus burying a 3-pointer for a 7-0
Ohio Wesleyan lead.
Larry Sharp got the Gators on the scoreboard with a 3-pointer, and when
Bill Babe hit a jumper at the 14:56 mark, Allegheny was within 7-5.
Ohio Wesleyan still led by a basket at 13-11 when the Bishops took off
on a 9-0 run, with sophomore wing Kyle Holliday (Van Wert) hitting a lay-in,
Cafarella sinking a 3-pointer off a feed from sophomore wing Kyle Miller
(Delaware/Hayes), Miller adding a jumper and junior post Ryan Rozak (Fairview
Park/Fairview) adding a lay-in for a 22-11 Bishop lead with 9:25 left
in the half.
Allegheny came back with a 3-pointer by Trevor Coffey, but the Bishops
scored the next 7 points on a Rozak fast break lay-in, another Cafarella
3-pointer and a Holliday fast break lay-in.
The Gators rallied with a 6-0 run to close within 29-20 with 4:36 left
in the half, but Ohio Wesleyan moved the lead back to 15 points on Uritus'
3-pointer with :45 left in the half.
Allegheny would score the last 5 points of the half, getting a lay-in
from Ben Torsney and a 3-point buzzer-beater by Babe, but Ohio Wesleyan
scored the first 6 points of the second half and pulled away with a 12-2
run that included a pair of 3-pointers and a fast-break lay-in by Cafarella.
Cafarella went 6-for-7 from 3-point range and 7-for-10 from the field,
and his
20 points surpassed his previous career best of 13, accomplished on Jan.

with 10 points apiece. Junior post Dustin Rudegeair (Yellow Springs) led
the Bishops with 9 rebounds and Miller had a team-high 4 assists.
