Ohio Wesleyan 12, Fontbonne 1

Sophomore attacker Dave Castignola (Dublin/Scioto) and junior midfielder Steve Fowler (Wilton, Conn.) had 2 goals apiece as Ohio Wesleyan opened the game with a 10-0 run and went on to defeat Fontbonne in non-conference action on Saturday at Selby Field.

Freshman attacker Chris Ehlinger (Radnor, Pa.) put the Bishops on the scoreboard less than 90 seconds into the game, and Castignola scored his first goal just over 2 minutes later. Sophomore attacker Karl Zimmerman (Utica, Mich./Brother Rice) added a goal to increase the Bishop lead to 3-0 after the first quarter.

Fowler, sophomore attacker Eric Turner (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) and sophomore midfielder Connor McGowan (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) added second-quarter goals, while Fowler, Castignola, junior midfielder Harrison Iuliano (Mendham, N.J./Blair Academy) and freshman attacker Rob Young (Langhorne, Pa./Council Rock South) contributed third-quarter scores.

The Griffins got on the scoreboard on Chris Whitehead's unassisted goal with 9:51 left in regulation time.

Iuliano and freshman attacker Chaz Narwicz (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) wrapped up the Ohio Wesleyan scoring.

Iuliano finished with 2 goals and 2 assists for the Bishops, while Castignola added an assist to his 2 goals.

Junior Ryan Perone (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) had 6 saves during the first 54-plus minutes, while freshman Gavin Bennett (Lebanon, N.J./The Millbrook (N.Y.) School) had 1 save during the final 5 minutes.

Mike Silva played the first 3 quarters in the Fontbonne goal, making 9 saves. Austen Doster played the fourth quarter and had 3 saves.
