2nd of 9 at GLCA championship

Senior Matt Kempton (Fredericktown) led Ohio Wesleyan at the Great Lakes Colleges Association championship meet, hosted by Earlham College on Saturday in Richmond, Ind.

It was the third consecutive runner-up finish for the Bishops at the GLCA meet. DePauw won the meet with 38 points to 72 for Ohio Wesleyan. Albion finished third with 92 points, followed by Oberlin (94), Denison (100), Wabash (134), Kenyon (212), Earlham (228) and Kalamazoo (236).

Kempton finished third among individuals, covering the 8000-meter course in 26:43.

Sophomore Clay Davis (Dublin/Coffman) finished sixth in 27:02, senior Kevin Goehring (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) was 13th in 27:20, senior Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.) finished 19th in 27:33 and sophomore Alex Havran (Woodinville, Wash./Overlake) rounded out the Ohio Wesleyan scoring by placing 31st in 28:04.

Freshman Christian Schlabach (Wooster/Triway) placed 39th in 28:23 and sophomore David Stefanik (Wooster) was 42nd in 28:29.
