Matt Kempton (Fredericktown), senior
Will Crabtree (Winchester, Mass.), sophomore David Stefanik (Wooster)
and junior Pete MacLeod (Hudson) earned all-conference honors in leading
Ohio Wesleyan at the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet,
hosted by Earlham College on Saturday in Richmond, Ind.
Allegheny won the meet with 25 points to 79 points for Ohio Wesleyan.
Denison was third with 81 points, followed by Wabash (112), Oberlin (125),
Kenyon (143), Earlham (189), Wooster (204) and Wittenberg (209).
The second-place finish was Ohio Wesleyan's best showing in the 23 seasons
of NCAC competition.
Kempton finished 12th among individuals, covering the 8000-meter course
in 27:59, while Crabtree was 13th in 28:01 and Stefanik finished 14th
in 28:10. All 3 runners were second-team All-NCAC honorees.
MacLeod placed 17th in a time of 28:16 and received honorable mention
All-NCAC status.
Sophomore Alex Havran (Woodinville, Wash./Overlake) rounded out the Ohio
Wesleyan scoring with a 24th-place finish in 28:35.
Freshman Christian Schlabach (Wooster/Triway) was 43rd in 29:17 and senior
Kevin Goehring (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer)
was 44th in 29:23.
