6th of 8 at Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge

Sophomore Catie Coleman (Medina/Lodi Cloverleaf) led Ohio Wesleyan at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge on Saturday at Indian Riffle Park in Dayton.

Ohio Wesleyan was the only NCAA Division III institution represented in the meet. Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne won the meet with 42 points to 43 for Miami University. Xavier was third with 54 points, followed by Dayton (115), Northern Kentucky (133), Ohio Wesleyan (166), Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis (188) and Morehead State (208).

Coleman finished 23rd among individuals, clocking a time of 19:44 for the 5000-meter course.

Freshman Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) finished 25th in 19:46, sophomore Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant) was 36th in 20:06, freshman Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) placed 51st in 20:36 and sophomore Valerie Sloboda (Columbia, Md./Atholton) finished 58th in 21:03.

Sophomore Laura Binkley (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) placed 59th in 21:04 and senior Amanda Husted (Springfield/Greenon) was 68th in a time of 21:24.
