5th of 31 at NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional

Sophomore Catie Coleman (Medina/Lodi Cloverleaf) won all-region honors in leading Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional championship meet, hosted by Hanover College on Saturday in Hanover, Ind.

Case Reserve won the meet with 53 points to 57 for runner-up Calvin. DePauw was third with 121 points, followed by Ohio Northern (154) and Ohio Wesleyan (188).

The fifth-place team finish was Ohio Wesleyan's best showing since 1993, when the Bishops also finished fifth in the NCAA regional meet.

Coleman finished 17th among individuals, completing the 6000-meter course in 23:12.6.

Freshman Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) placed 36th in 23:50.6, missing all-region honors by less than 3 seconds.

Sophomore Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant) finished 38th in 24:00.9, sophomore Valerie Sloboda (Columbia, Md./Atholton) was 46th in 24:15.9 and sophomore Laura Binkley (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 51st-place finish in 24:22.3.

Senior Amanda Husted (Springfield/Greenon) placed 92nd in 25:12.0 and freshman Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) was 134th in 25:59.8.
