Junior shortstop Logan Hronis (Rocky River/St. Edward) led an offensive eruption as Ohio Wesleyan tallied 3 times in the first inning and put the game out of reach by combining for 8 runs in the sixth and seventh frames as the Bishops defeated Spalding in the opening game of their spring trip on Saturday in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Hronis went 3-for-5, including a solo home run that broke a 4-4 tie in the fourth inning, and drove in 3 runs.
Senior outfielder Brent Wilkins (Fairview Park/Fairview) and sophomore third baseman Eric McComas (Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Groves) each went 2-for-4, and senior first baseman A.J. Dote (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) drove in 2 runs for Ohio Wesleyan.
Junior righthander Greg Vasami (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Rye Neck) picked up the win with 3.0 innings of relief on the mound.
