![]() Anderson 5, Ohio Wesleyan 4 March 13, 2008 In the nightcap, the Ravens jumped to a 7-0 lead after 3 innings and went on to complete the sweep. The opener saw Anderson take a 1-0 lead on Brad Lantz's RBI single in the first and make it 2-0 on David Addington's RBI single in the second. Senior first baseman A.J. Dote (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) brought the Bishops within 2-1 with a sacrifice fly in the third, but the Ravens got that run back in the top of the fourth on Addington's sacrifice fly. Ohio Wesleyan tied the game in the bottom of the inning when junior outfielder Matt Rhode (Port Clinton) was hit by a pitch and, one out later, senior outfielder Brent Wilkins (Fairview Park/Fairview) followed with a single. The runners moved to second and third on a passed ball before sophomore third baseman Eric McComas (Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Groves) plated Rhode with an infield out and freshman outfielder Zach Frentsos (Delaware/Hayes) delivered a single to drive in Wilkins with the tying run. Anderson answered with a run in the fifth on Lantz's sacrifice fly, but Ohio Wesleyan tied the game in the bottom of the inning as Hronis lined a 2-out double and scored when Raven third baseman misplayed Rhode's grounder. Lantz's single plated the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh, and Raven starter Eric Smith retired the Bishops in the bottom of the inning to finish the complete game. Hronis and Frentsos had 2 hits apiece for Ohio Wesleyan. Senior lefthander Joey McDaniel (Dublin/Scioto) pitched the complete game for the Bishops. In the nightcap, Anderson scored 4 runs in the first, with Stephen Jones's 2-run double the big hit. The Ravens added 2 more runs in the second on a walk, a Smith double and a Lantz triple, and tacked on one run in the third on Addington's RBI double. Ohio Wesleyan got on the scoreboard in the sixth when Frentsos led off with a triple and scored on a single by sophomore second baseman Tyson Snyder (Bryan). Frentsos led the Bishops with 2 hits. Sophomore righthander Matthew Struble (Defiance/Edon) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan. |
