Senior first baseman A.J. Dote (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) ripped an RBI single to cap a 4-run, 2-out rally in the bottom of the seventh inning that lifted Ohio Wesleyan over Kenyon in non-conference action on Saturday at Littick Field.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out.

Trailing, 5-2, and down to their final out in the bottom of the seventh, the Bishops kept the game going when sophomore catcher Steve Ruygrok (Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek) singled up the middle. Senior outfielder Joey McDaniel (Dublin/Scioto) followed with a single, as did freshman outfielder Zach Frentsos (Delaware/Hayes), loading the bases. Junior shortstop Logan Hronis (Rocky River/St. Edward) followed with a grounder to Kenyon shortstop Scott Burdette, but Burdette's throw to second was too late to get the fleet Frentsos, with Ruygrok scoring on the play. Sophomore third baseman Eric McComas (Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Groves) singled home McDaniel and Frentsos to tie the game and Dote followed with a single to score Hronis with the game-winning run.

Kenyon had taken a 2-0 lead on Will Smith's 2-run homer in the first and bumped it to 3-0 on Jamie Keyte's leadoff homer in the second.

Senior outfielder Brent Wilkins (Fairview Park/Fairview) smashed a 2-run homer in the bottom of the second that brought the Bishops within 3-2, and the game stayed that way until the top of the seventh, when a Burdette RBI double and a Tom Hardacker RBI single increased the Lord lead to 5-2.

Frentsos, Hronis and Dote each collected 2 hits for Ohio Wesleyan.

Senior righthander Xander Jones (Pomfret, Conn./Pomfret School) worked the complete game for Ohio Wesleyan, striking out 9 and walking 2.

Geoff Bollier was the starting and losing pitcher for Kenyon.
