Seven Bishops Named to All-NCAC Football Teams

[ Chad Ellis ]A total of 7 Ohio Wesleyan University football players were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams, it was announced today.

Senior linebacker Chad Ellis (Dublin/Scioto) was a first-team All-NCAC selection; senior split end Zach Dennis (Jefferson), senior defensive end Patrick Trenor (Urbana) and junior offensive tackle Mark Wall (Delaware/Buckeye Valley) were second-team All-NCAC choices; and sophomore safety Rylan Mitter-Burke (Marlborough, Mass./Marlboro), junior linebacker Tommy Saunders (Gallipolis/Gallia Academy) and junior defensive tackle Julian Strother (Warren/Kennedy) were honorable mention picks.

Ellis ranked second on the Bishops and is eighth in the NCAC in tackles with 90, an average of 9.0 per game. His 6 sacks ranks fifth in the conference and his 11 tackles for loss is tied for eighth.

Dennis led the Bishops with 54 receptions. He ranks third in the NCAC in receiving yards (88.8/game) and is sixth in receptions (5.40/game). Dennis was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2006.

Trenor led the Bishops and ranks second in the NCAC with 8 sacks, and his team-leading 12½ tackles for loss is tied for fifth in the conference. He ranked sixth on the team in total tackles with 47.

Wall helped pave the way for the Ohio Wesleyan offense, which averaged 355.6 yards per game and ranked fourth in the league in rushing with 183.2 yards per game.

Mitter-Burke led Bishop defensive backs with 66 tackles, shared the team lead with 2 interceptions and was second on the team with 5 pass breakups.

Saunders led the Bishops and ranks third in the NCAC with 115 tackles, an average of 11.5 per game.

Strother led Bishop linemen with 48 tackles, and contributed an interception, a sack and 4 tackles for loss.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 4-6 record. The Battling Bishops were 4-3 in the NCAC, good for a fourth-place tie in the final league standings.
