Five Bishops Picked to All-NCAC Teams,
Redmond Named NCAC Coach of Year

[ Diana Boryczewski ]Five Ohio Wesleyan University field hockey players were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams, it was announced today.

Senior defender Diana Boryczewski (Kensington, Conn./Kingswood Oxford), freshman attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) and senior goalkeeper Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) were first-team All-NCAC choices; freshman attacker Lilly Jianas (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Pembroke Hill) was a second-team All-NCAC selection; and freshman midfielder Jessica Wright (Lancaster) was an honorable mention pick.

Boryczewski was a starter on the Battling Bishop defense, which led the NCAC in goals allowed (1.29/game). Boryczewski also contributed on the offensive end of the field, collecting 4 goals and 1 assist to rank third on the team in scoring. Boryczewski was a second-team All-NCAC selection last year.

Cocumelli ranked second on the team in scoring with 4 goals and 2 assists, and contributed a defensive save.

Jones started all 17 games in the Ohio Wesleyan cage. She led the NCAC in saves percentage (.865) and was tied for second in shutouts (4). Jones was a second-team All-NCAC selection in 2006, a first-team choice in 2005 and an honorable mention pick in 2004.

Jianas led the Bishops and ranked ninth in the NCAC in scoring with 8 goals and 1 assist.

Wright led the Bishops with 4 defensive saves and contributed 2 goals and an assist.

Ohio Wesleyan head coach Marge Redmond shared NCAC Coach of the Year honors, Redmond's first Coach of the Year citation.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 10-7 record. The Battling Bishops finished with a 7-5 record in NCAC competition, tying for fourth place in the final league standings.
