Senior
attacker Maggie Donovan (Westport, Conn./Staples) and senior defender
Diana Boryczewski (Kensington, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) scored goals to
wipe out a 2-0 deficit and send the game into overtime, but Oberlin got
the game-winner during the first extra session and edged the Bishops in
their North Coast Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday in Oberlin.
The Yeowomen got on the scoreboard first on Julie Goodwin's unassisted
goal just over 6 minutes into the game, then extended their lead to 2-0
as Taylor Rogers converted a pass from Ashley Allen in the closing minutes
of the first half.
Donovan brought the Bishops within 2-1 with an unassisted goal with 8:55
remaining in regulation time, and Boryczewski evened matters at 2-2 by
converting a penalty stroke with 3:30 on the clock.
Kaitlin Barrer scored the game-winner for Oberlin, an unassisted goal
with 5:38 left in the first overtime period.
Oberlin
outshot the Bishops, 25-8. Senior
goalkeeper Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) finished
with 13 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while Yeowomen keeper Lauren Malinowski
had 4 saves.
