Ohio Wesleyan 2, Wooster 0
Sept. 8, 2007
Freshman
attacker Lilly Jianas (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Pembroke Hill) and senior
attacker Jenna Narwicz (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame (N.J.)) scored goals to
lift Ohio Wesleyan over Wooster in North Coast Athletic Conference action
on Saturday at Selby Field.
The win snaps Wooster's 17-game NCAC regular-season winning streak, which
had dated back to Oct. 4, 2005.
Ohio Wesleyan jumped to a 1-0 lead late in the first half when senior
defender Diana Boryczewski (Kensington, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) passed
the ball in to Jianas, who finished the chance with 6:01 on the clock.
The Bishops added an insurance goal in the closing minutes of regulation
time. Senior attacker Maggie Donovan (Westport, Conn./Staples) passed
the ball to Narwicz from the right side. Narwicz tapped the ball toward
the Wooster cage, but Fighting Scot keeper Izzy Maffetone was there for
the save. The ball went right back to Narwicz, however, and her second
shot was true for a 2-0 Ohio Wesleyan lead with 7:24 left to play.
Ohio
Wesleyan outshot Wooster, 10-9. Senior
goalkeeper Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) finished
with 8 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while Maffetone was credited with 4 saves.
