Oberlin 1, Ohio Wesleyan 0

Oct. 2, 2007

Ashley Allen scored early in the second half to give Oberlin a win over Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Tuesday at Selby Field.

Scoring chances were difficult to come by during the first half. Oberlin ended the first half with a series of 4 penalty corners, with Julie Goodwin collecting 3 shots during that spree, but the Ohio Wesleyan defense held tough, with keeper Katie Jones (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) stopping the only shot that got close to the Bishop cage.

The Yeowomen took the lead in the 41st minute when Allen moved in from the right side and slipped the ball into the Bishop cage.

Ohio Wesleyan had a couple of good looks at the Oberlin cage in the second half, with senior defender Diana Boryczewski (Kensington, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) and junior defender Emily Molchan (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) firing shots, but Oberlin keeper Lauren Malinowski stopped both to preserve the shutout.

Oberlin outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 18-5. Jones finished with 4 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal. Malinowski had 2 saves in the Oberlin cage.
