![]() 5th of 28 at Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate March 30, 2008 Methodist won the tournament with a 3-day total of 859, defeating Berry by 24 shots. Savannah Art & Design and Oglethorpe tied for third place at 889, one shot ahead of Ohio Wesleyan's total of 890. Fayetteville State was sixth with 892, followed by Guilford (895), Shorter and Webber International (896), with Thomas rounding out the top 10 teams with a 901. Bridgewater and Washington & Lee tied for 11th place at 907, followed by Embry-Riddle (913), Concord (319) and Hampden-Sydney (328). Also competing in the tournament were Averett, Lynchburg, California (Pa.), Millersville, DePauw, Reinhardt, Randolph-Macon, Virginia Wesleyan, New York, Louisburg, Christopher Newport, Clarion, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Shenandoah. The tournament is played on two courses, with each team playing one round on the Paradise Point Scarlet course and one round on the Paradise Point Gold course. The top half of the field after the second round goes on to play the third round on the Gold course and the bottom half plays the third round on the Scarlet course. Benner finished with a 219, tying for ninth place among individuals who played the third round at the Gold Course. Sophomore Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) tied for 32nd place with a 225, while junior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller), junior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) and sophomore Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) each tied for 37th place with a 227. Harman's total included a second-round 65 which broke the school record of 66 strokes for 18 holes set by Chad Poling at the PGA of Southern California during the 2004 NCAA Division III championship. That round helped Ohio Wesleyan tie the school record of 277 shots for 18 holes set last year, also at the Paradise Point Scarlet course. |
