1st of 8 at Kenyon College Invitational

[ Jeff Nieman ]Junior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) won medalist honors to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Kenyon College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Apple Valley Golf Course in Howard.

The 36-hole event was the first of 3 regular-season tournaments which count toward determining the North Coast Athletic Conference's automatic qualifer for the NCAA Division III championships.

Ohio Wesleyan won the tournament with a 592, shooting a second-round 291 to erase a 4-stroke deficit after the first round. Allegheny finished in second place at 595. Wooster and Denison tied for third place at 615, followed by Wittenberg (628), Wabash (646), Hiram (671) and Kenyon (679).

Nieman finished in a tie for first place among individuals with Allegheny's Kyle Jastromb at 148, but prevailed in a playoff to take home medalist honors.

Sophomore Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) and junior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) tied for third place at 149, sophomore Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) tied for eighth place with a 150 and junior Adam Claytor (Columbus/Wellington) tied for 10th place with a 151.
