Sophomore Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) was leading Ohio Wesleyan after the first round of the Griffin Motors Classic on Saturday, hosted by Allegheny College at the Country Club of Meadville in Meadville, Pa.
The 36-hole event is the second of 3 regular-season tournaments which count toward determining the North Coast Athletic Conference's automatic qualifer for the NCAA Division III championships.
Allegheny was leading the tournament with a 284 to Ohio Wesleyan's 291. Denison was in third place with a 310, followed by Wabash (311), Wittenberg (313), Wooster (315), Hiram (330) and Kenyon (351).
Harman was second among individuals with a 69. Sophomore Jordan Benner (Beavercreek) was tied for sixth at 73, junior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) was ninth with a 74, senior Rory Hotaling (Yellow Springs) was tied for 10th place at 75 and junior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking
Heights) was tied for 16th place with a 77.
The tournament's second round is scheduled for Sunday.
